Character Redesign

haha wow is it 1 am already that was fast.

anyways! this is a hw assignment that is due tomorrow, I'm working on a project that was basically "pick a story and change everything, redesign five characters but still stick to the story a bit but the rest is up to you". So, i picked avatar the last airbender, and wanted to redesign it as students at an art school and sang is trying to master all four art majors for some reason that i have yet to decide. probably an art contest at the end of the year that he wants to enter to finally beat zuko because he has won all the art contests in the years past and the project sang wants to make requires all four art mojor's knowledges. 

so this is a working sketch for my redesign of toph, who is going to be a sculpture major. unsure if she is still blind at this point but i wanted her to have a bunch of different textures in her character, and lots of desaturated hues and monochrome themes (kinda like when you make a sculpture and before you paint it so you just see the form, those are really cool looking so i wanted to go that direction) 
maybe she sculpts with a blindfold so she can focus on how the forms feel to hear rather than how they look?? maybe she just has bad eyesight?? maybe she is making a series of sculptures that are meant to be felt and touched rather than looked at to truly appreciate?? these are still up in their things but i am excited about her redesign, a very fun project.
